Practice History
The Woottons Surgery opened in Spring Cottage in June 1985. Dr.Outred converted the house, which was originally two farm cottages, to accommodate two doctors and a nurse. Initially the reception and office was staffed by two part-time staff and in 1987 our first nurse joined the practice. During 1991 a computer system was introduced with the aim to have all patient records held electronically. In 1993 a large extension was completed and now provides five consulting rooms, two treatment rooms and offices and reception for a total of twenty staff, mainly all part-time.
During the past twenty one years there have been many changes within the Health Service which have affected the Health Authority and The Primary Care Trusts. We have experienced the introduction of a new contract, fundholding, a change to a PMS Practice (Personal Medical Services) and finally another new contract, following the Shipman Enquiry.
The Practice has been very successful and has achieved the targets set by the government. We strive to provide a first class service to our patients and our Patient Surveys have demonstrated a high degree of patient satisfaction. The surveys are shared with the Patient Group and are available for interested patients.
